HRCI Champion: Parveen Sehrawat, SPHRi

HRCI certification enhanced Parveen Sehrawat's HR career, expanding his global influence and leadership capabilities. Learn about the strategies and resources that have shaped his journey to success.

Expanding Horizons and Opportunities Through HRCI

You have your SPHRi certification from HRCI. Why did you choose HRCI as your career partner?

I chose HRCI because it is the global standard in HR certification, offering credibility, rigor, and global recognition. The SPHRi certification aligned perfectly with my goal to demonstrate strategic and international HR competencies, plus HRCI’s commitment to ethical practices and its global outlook made it a natural partner in my professional journey.

How has HRCI enhanced your professional credibility within India and globally?

Earning the SPHRi credential significantly enhanced my professional credibility within India and globally by deepening my understanding of strategic HR practices and positioning me to participate meaningfully in leadership discussions. Beyond certification, HRCI’s thought leadership—through webinars, industry reports, and tools—has helped me stay ahead of trends and navigate challenges with confidence.

Empowering HR Leadership Through Continuous Learning

Which courses from HRCI's Learning Center have had the most impact on your HR journey?

The HRCI Learning Center has been a valuable resource for continuous development. Modules on HR analytics, change management, and cross-cultural leadership were particularly impactful. The convenience of self-paced learning allowed me to align my development with real-time workplace needs, and the content quality is world-class.

How has the HRCI community expanded your professional network and provided mentorship opportunities?

HRCI has connected me with HR leaders across geographies. These interactions—through virtual sessions, forums, and knowledge exchanges—have broadened my perspective and provided informal mentoring that has shaped my leadership approach.

Strategies for Success

What strategies do you recommend to HR professionals looking to maximize the benefits of HRCI?

  • Align certification with your career goals: Choose the credential that stretches your capabilities.

  • Engage with the community: Attend events and build your network through HRCI ENGAGE

  • Apply learnings real-time: Integrate new knowledge into workplace practices quickly for retention and relevance.

What is your number one piece of advice to someone who wants to begin a career in HR? How do you give back to the HR profession?

Start with curiosity and empathy. HR is about people and change—both require deep listening and a learning mindset. I mentor early-career HR professionals, contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions, and actively participate in panel discussions to share practical perspectives with the broader community.

The Future of HR: Trends and Changes with HRCI

What is the most significant change in your career or professional life since becoming certified?

Since earning the SPHRi, I’ve moved into more strategic roles, influencing organization-wide HR decisions. The certification gave me the confidence and knowledge to navigate complexity, and resources like the Learning Center and HRCI webinars helped me continue refining those capabilities.

How do you plan to utilize HRCI’s resources to stay ahead of HR trends and transition into advisory roles?

I plan to explore additional micro-credentials, stay updated with compliance and global HR trends, and continue engaging with HRCI’s global community to learn and contribute. These resources will be key as I aim to transition into HR advisory and coaching roles.

What is the top trend you foresee in HR over the next 2–3 years, and how do you think HRCI can support professionals in navigating this trend?

One key trend is balancing technology and humanity in the workplace—especially with AI, hybrid work, and increasing mental health challenges. HRCI can support professionals through curated learning tracks on ethical AI, DEI in digital workspaces, and mental wellness strategies.

Fill in the blank: What area of HR do you find most _______ and why?

I find strategic workforce planning most rewarding because it blends data, business insight, and human behavior to create meaningful impact on organizational success. It allows HR to act as a true partner to business growth.
